Rancho Fire initially started 5:07 p.m. July 5 in San Luis Obispo County, California. After being active for 13 hours, it has burned 27.6 acres. A fire crew of 111 managed to contain the blaze entirely as of Sunday morning. Investigations into its cause are still ongoing.

The Madre Fire burning in the eastern corner of San Luis Obispo County was 30% containment as of Sunday morning. In a post on its X account, Cal Fire SLO also announced that the massive fire is now 30% contained. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Evacuation orders were issued near Highway 166. The highway is closed from U.S. 101 near Santa Maria to Perkins Road in the New Cuyama area of Santa Barbara County.
