The U.S. has pressured Ukraine to withdraw its European-backed U.N. resolution demanding an immediate withdrawal of Russian forces from Ukraine in favor of an American proposal that doesn't mention Moscow’s invasion.

Trump has increasingly shifted some of the blame to Zelensky, suggesting he failed to take key steps leading up to the conflict to avert the Ukraine war.

The United States wanted the resolution replaced with a toned-down version that felt overly sympathetic to Russia, an official said.
