Lewis easily handled Teixeira in a matter of seconds on Saturday night at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville in what was his first fight in more than a year. The 40-year-old, who is the UFC’s all-time knockout leader, added another TKO to his tally when he handled the 6-foot-7 Brazilian without much of an issue whatsoever.
Derrick Lewis will cash a check against anyone. Tallison Teixeira seeks to expedite his rise by beating a heavyweight stalwart. Their clashing philosophies meet at UFC Fight Night in Nashville on Saturday.
Tallison Teixeira lived up to expectations in his UFC debut. Touted by many as a big prospect in the heavyweight division, Teixeira (8-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) only needed 35 second to log his first UFC win. The Brazilian quickly stopped veteran Justin Tafa with a nasty elbow to the nose and then some follow-up shots in February at UFC 312.
Teixeira sent his opponent stumbling back with a jab and as Fonseca started to move away from his big follow-up shots, he walked right into a head kick that sent him to the floor, ending the fight inside of two minutes. The 25-year-old went on to mimic the iconic walkout of Pereira by drawing his bow and shouting while releasing the arrow.
