Just as the Senate began debate on the rescissions package that would strip the Corporation for Public Broadcasting of two years' worth of its funding, the Trump administration filed a new lawsuit against the three CPB board members whom the president has attempted to fire but have refused to leave.

The U.S. Senate on Wednesday moved toward approval of President Donald Trump's plan for billions of dollars in cuts to funding for foreign aid and public broadcasting, which would hand Trump another victory as he exerts control over Congress.

Capital Public Radio in Sacramento did not account for any federal funding in its budget passed for the upcoming fiscal year that began July 1. KVIE, PBS’ Ch. 6, says grants make up about 14% of its operating budget, which is separate from its total budget, said General Manager David Lowe.
